9th-12th Homeschool Art Class
This art class is set up for grades 9th-12th. Each week, we will discuss different art related topics such as techniques, artists, design elements, and explore various mediums to implement into our own original artwork. This class meets Thursdays at 11:30 a.m.

Magical Art Camp
Prepare to be amazed! We start with a blank surface and turn it into something beautiful! Abracadabra! Join us for a week of magical art making. During this camp your child will learn how creating art can be much like how a magician performs magic tricks. We will explore optical illusions, artist MC Escher, paint pouring, fun transfer techniques, scratch paper, tin art, create glow in the dark paintings, how to make shapes look 3-D, bubble painting, and make color changing slime!

Cozy Campsite- Paint Night at Cones
Join us for a paint night at Cones Ice Cream where will create “Cozy Campsite” ! During this class, you will be guided through painting this scene (using acrylic paint) on an 11” x 14” canvas. All materials, small ice cream, and instruction are provided.

Animal Art Camp
Is your child an animal lover?! Then they will fall in love with this art camp where everything that we make will be inspired by animals! We will be creating pet portraits, upcycled egg carton animals, studying their textures and patterns to create abstract artwork, and making habitat dioramas!

Harry Potter Art Camp
Accio!!! Summon your creativity! Embark on a week-long adventure with Harry Potter-themed arts and crafts while listening to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Select your house, craft wands and potions, paint your patronus, create self-portraits in Hogwarts attire, draw your "familiar," shape and mold clay mandrakes, and enjoy many more magical activities!

Around the World Art Camp
Let’s travel the world in five days! In this week’s art camp, we will be learning about art and cultures from all around the world. Each day we will “travel” to a different place and explore everything from different styles of dress to food to climate and how these changes inspire unique artwork to be made. We will use what we learn each day to create our very own original art using various mediums such as tin, paint, inks, etc.

DIY Upcycling & Repurposing Camp
This week, we're transforming trash into treasure by repurposing items such as planters, tiles, tin cans, jars, cardboard, old t-shirts, jeans, and an assortment of found or thrifted objects. Additionally, we'll be crafting our own candles and soaps.

3, 2, 1, Blast off at this week’s camp where we will create artwork inspired by outer space! In this camp we will create artwork inspired by constellations, galaxies, planets, and more! It’s going to be “outta this world” fun!

Does your child love being creative and being outside?! If so, you have found your camp! During this camp, we combine our love of nature into each project. Weather permitting, will plan to meet at Port Dickinson Park for activities such as shadow drawing, plein air painting, collecting nature to use in our artwork, and more! If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we will still hold this camp at our studio where each project will be nature themed and elements from nature will be collected to use in our artwork.

Snowflake Wall Hanging Kid's Class
In this class, we will be making winter wall hangings using sticks, beads, paint, glitter, and paper snow flakes. At the class start, we will paint and glitter our “snowy branches”. While the paint is drying, we will go over how to cut out paper snowflakes. Then we will choose our beads to add “ice crystals” to the branches, and lastly our unique snowflakes will be the final touch. Kids love this magical and messy project!

Baby Birds Illustration Class
During this class, you will be taken step by step how to draw your own version of this springtime illustration. We will start with basic shapes then move on to adding textures and details in the foreground and background. Each person will be provided with drawing paper for their warm up, practice sketch. The final artwork will be created on watercolor paper using Micron pens and watercolor pencils to bring your creation to life! All materials and instruction provided. Registration is required!
Pot of Gold & Rainbow Watercolor

Georgia O'Keefe Inspired Flowers

Join us as we explore the art work of American artist, Georgia O’Keefe, who was famous for her large and colorful flower paintings. During this workshop, we will create our own floral paintings on hexagonal canvases! Students will be provided flowers to use as references to draw and paint from. The artwork created during this workshop will be displayed at The Discovery Center for their “Queen Bee” themed First Friday held on March 3rd, 2023.

Art Explorers- Observational Drawing
Does your child LOVE to draw?? Bring them in for a fun & relaxed drawing class where they will choose from different objects to draw from! There will be a variety of drawing materials available to experiment with. Class will start with 4 short sketching warm ups (about 3 mins each) and then we will move on to our final drawing of their choice! Your child has total creative freedom with guidance on shading, composition, proportions, color, etc. Class ends with a fun drawing game!

General Art Education Classes are back starting Monday September 12, 2022!!!! To accommodate your busy schedules, there will be two different time slots available for your family to choose from (please only select one time slot per week). Classes are organized by grade level and will meet once per week for 1 1/2 hours. During class, your children will learn about different artists, techniques, art mediums, design elements, etc. with time to create their very own works of art to display in the art gallery at The Creative Hive!
